Onttelo Knitter's Loom jne

Tämä on uusi huivi juuri pois Ashfordin Knitter's loom. Se on onttelo kude, kaksi värinen ja kude kiinitää kumpi puoli toisen. Lanka on Novita Florica 100% villa. It's a double weave in two colors. The yarn is Novita's Florica 100% wool. Directions came from Ashford's annual magazine The Wheel issue 18 2006, and the design is by Kim Schiffmacher. The scarf goes to one of my grandchildren.

This is another small thing off the Ashford Knitter's loom. It is a hood for a newborn girl. Work goes smoothly and I'm always creating new projects. The yarn is Novita's "Seven Brothers" and Colori.

Tämä sykyn huivi on suurinpiirtein eri Novita langolita. This autum scarf is motly different Novita yarns.

Taas se kesta ennemään aika selvittä mitä tehdää. Ylesesti loimen laittaminen alusta louppun kesta minulle noin tunti. Sen tunnin jälkeen kangaspuu on valmis kudoa. Se on todella nopea ja helpoa.

Again it takes more time to say what to do than to do it. Generally dressing the loom takes me one hour. After that hour the loom is ready for weaving. It is fast and easy.

And in English. Here are three pictures of the inkle woven band I'm making into a cell phone bag for my daughter. The first shows three of the four sections that I wove with the warp. The second shows the part that will be the bag itself. And the third is a close up of the blanket stitch that holds the two "halves" together. I'm still working on the sides. Elonkehruun Alku - Start

Elonkehruu perustettiin vuonna 2008 vastaamaan perinteistä kehruuta kohtaan lisääntyneeseen kiinnostukseen. Tarjollemme kussit, jolla on sopivat kaikille iästä tai taidosta riippumatta.

Elonkehruu tarjoaa myös englannin opetusta ja englannin kielen tarkastaminen. Olen pätevä englannin kielen opettaja (Joensuu yliopisto v. 1989), englanti on äidinkieleni ja minulla on opetuskokemusta vuodesta 1981 alkaen eri tasoilta alakoulusta yliopistoon. Olen myös valmentanut koululaisia ylioppilaskirjoituksiin usean vuoden ajan.

Lyhyet kehräämiskurssit ovat sopivia esim. päiväkodeissa, ja alakoulussa: kehrääminen mm. vahvistaa käden ja silmän koordinaatiota. Alkeiskurssi sopii myös kansalaisopiston opiskelijoille, kuten kaikki muutkin kädentaito-kurssit. Pitkä kurssi soveltuu esim. ammattikoulussa teksilityötä opiskeleville. Kurssiin voidaan sisällyttää kaikki Elonkehruun tarjoamat kehruukurssit.

Aloitin kehruun vuonna 2004 ja huomasin pian tarvitsevani useamman värttinän. Vuonna 2005 ostin perinteisen suomalaisen rukin mutta rukkiin sopivia rullia oli vaikeaa löytää . Lopulta ystäväni isä teki rukkiini sopivat rullat. Vuonna 2007 liityyn Ashfordin “perheeseen” kun huomasin heidän laajan ja laadukkaan valikoiman. Tänä vuonna valmistuu kisällityöni Yhdysvaltain kehrääjien kilalle ja liityyn suomen Kehrääjien Kiltalle.

Miksi suosittelen Ashfordia? Koska heillä on kehitetty rukki, joka kasvaa omien taitojen ja tarpeiden mukaan. Ashfordin laajasta valikoimasta löytyy eri elämänvaiheisiin sopivat tuoteet, esim. kevyt matkarukki. Ashfordila on tyytyväisiä asiakkaita ympäri maailman.

So now you want all that in English too? Elonkehruu began in 2008 partly in answer to the growing interest in traditonal hand spinning. We offer spinning courses suitable for a wide range of ages and interests, from our short course which is suitable for beginners who just want to try spinning and learn the basics, to those who want a new hobby.

Elonkehruu also offers English language teaching and English language checking. I am a qualified TEFL teacher who graduated in 1989 from the University of Joensuu with a Masters in English and TEFL. I have taught at every level from third grade through University.

I began spinning in 2004 and quickly noticed that I wanted more drop spindles. By 2005 I found a beautiful old Finnish spinning wheel and happily bought her. Then I discovered the problem: finding suitable bobbins for my wheel. Last year the father of a dear friend made five bobbins for my wheel. And then I got my first Ashford wheel - everyone persuaded me to get a Traditional.
